ARTIST LABEL: "Tough Goodbye" Melissa Guevara Going to see my grandma for the last time was one of the toughest things I had to do. Fortunately I was able to get through that time because of my family and the strength we have built together. Through this project I was able to link that to the circulatory system, more specifically how it maintains homeostasis. I got to learn about the heart and the major role it plays in the human body as well as how to keep my “power” healthy. Two major key steps in maintaining a healthy heart is eating a balanced diet and exercising daily. On my canvas I painted a tree inside of the human body. The tree itself represents the circulatory system and my personal growth with my family. The trunk is a DNA double helix and the branches are veins and arteries. I also included the heart in the middle to show the centerpiece of the system I chose to focus on.
