BIOLOGICAL ROOT: During this project we wrote a seven page narrative based on the question, "Where does your project come from?" in Humanities. Once we were able to define our power we connected that to a system in the human body. I personally chose the circulatory system because my story spoke about my power coming from my family and my love for them. Since the main organ of the circultory system is the heart I was able to draw a distinct connection. Learning about our system was of importance because it was where we focused our research, allowng us to learn how we could keep our power healthy. The actual anatomy also helped us when we were creating our paintings by making our work as realistic as possible since we learned many details and we were able to transfer that onto our canvas. Researching my system also allowed me to learn the, "why" behind many statements. For example, someone might say you need to exercise but many people don't exactly know why that helps you scientifically. To answer this question I learned that exercising allows your cardiac muscle to become more efficient and better equipped with pumping blood throughout your body keeping your blood pressure stable. To the left I included my Mind Map, an assignment where we used all our research in order to give a detailed and thorough explanation of the system we chose to purse. HOW TO KEEP A HEALTHY HEART: Throughout this project I was able to pick up a lot of information and slowly build on it until I had a deep understanding of what you could to do keep a healthy heart.
1. Refrain from smoking, a huge risk that damages the lining of your arteries and leads to a build up of atheroma which narrows the artery. 2. Exersise daily and keep your body fat at a regular level. (Already explained above) 3. Stick to a healthy diet limiting your salt and sugar intake. This helps your body create new cells, clear toxins and to function everyday while limiting your chance of future diseases. 4. Get seven to eight hours of sleep a night! Sleep plays a critical role in immune function, metabolism, memory, learning and other vital functions. 5. Learn to manage stress, blood pressure lowers, increase in endorphins, controls cholesterol and glucose levels as well as decreasing odds of stress related diseases.
